When she found out that Hades took her she ran to Zeus Persephone's father and Hades brother.She told Zeus everything. She said that your brother Hades took our daughter so he could marry her. Zeus said that Hades can't marry Persephone or keep her in the underworld unless she eats the pomagranite seed. So when Persephone returned Demeter asked her if she had eaten a pomagranite seed. She lied to her mother at first then she told her that Hades starved me and he said she would not be hungry any longer if she ate it so she did. Now Persephone lives in the underworld as a queen so now she is Hades wife for one-third of the year and she could visit her mother two-thirds of the year, so now whenever Persephone is in the underworld Demeter stops doing her job.
